Blepharoplasty: Rejuvenation and Freshness for your Look
Blepharoplasty is surgery performed to treat excess skin or fat in the eyelid region. It can be performed alone or accompanied by other facial rejuvenation procedures. The incisions should always be located so that they are in the skin folds of the upper eyelid and immediately under the eyelashes on the lower eyelid. In the lower eyelid, it is possible in some cases to remove the fat through a transconjunctival incision, that is, inside the eye, to avoid damaging the septum, which is the structure that gives shape to the lower eyelid.
This procedure can be performed with local anesthesia or local anesthesia and sedation. Most patients experience swelling and ecchymosis (purple) in the first few days after surgery with little or no pain. Other disorders that affect the eyelids, such as dark circles, edema, pigmentation disorders, etc., cannot be treated by blepharoplasty. For these alterations, other treatments such as laser, dermabrasion, or topical medications should be recommended, depending on the case.
